The Story Behind the Solution...
Dr. D. Scott Morgan is a pediatric dentist who co-invented BiteBuoy after witnessing too many preventable post-anesthesia injuries in his practice. Drawing from over four decades of combined clinical experience, Dr. Morgan and his late father, Dr. David L. Morgan, recognized a persistent problem that had plagued dental practices for years—patients accidentally biting their lips, cheeks, and tongues while still numb from local anesthesia.
A graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry, Dr. Morgan completed his pediatric dental residency at James W. Riley Hospital for Children, following the same path as his father. This shared background gave them unique insight into the challenges facing both general and pediatric dentists when it comes to post-procedural patient safety.
The inspiration for BiteBuoy™ came directly from their clinical observations. “We kept seeing the same preventable injuries, especially in children,” Dr. Morgan explains. “The profession has typically defaulted to advising patients to ‘be careful until the numbness wears off.’ We knew there had to be a better way to protect our patients.”
Working together, the father-son team developed BiteBuoy™ as a practical solution that any dental professional could easily implement. Though Dr. David L. Morgan passed away before seeing the product reach market, his clinical wisdom and commitment to patient safety remain at the heart of BiteBuoy’s™ design.

“As a Mom, it’s my job to protect my children. So when you offered my sons BiteBuoy ™ to protect them from their own teeth, I felt good knowing that you wanted to...
“I think BiteBuoy ™ is much better than the use of cotton. I didn't have to constantly tell the kids to keep it in their mouths like I do with cotton.”
“It was very, very good! I wish I'd heard about it a year ago for my son, because he bit his cheek badly after being numbed.”
“My child used it for almost 3 hours and never complained. The last time he bit his tongue was when he removed it after an hour. I like it and would recommend it to others!...
“The dentist was very efficient in making sure the mouthguard was a perfect fit. That really impressed me.”
